Metered PDU for increased reliability from GUDE

With the Expert PDU Energy 8340 / 8341, GUDE introduces a new series of power distribution systems for professionally operated 19-inch installations. The Cologne-based company has placed particular emphasis here on ensuring that the device functionality meets users’ requirements in terms of fail-safety and consumer availability. To this end, the following features have been implemented:

  • Precise measurement electronics allow reliable consumption measurement of typical parameters such as energy, current and voltage for up to four connected consumers
  • The devices have an easy pull-out hotswap plug-in unit. This ensures smooth maintenance of the electronics module without having to disconnect the consumers from the mains.
  • Thanks to residual current measurement, the installation is subjected to continuous monitoring, which detects critical faulty currents and thus enables early intervention.
  • Two sensor connections allow easy to implement environmental monitoring in terms of temperature and humidity
Description

The Expert PDU Energy 8340 / 8341 is an inline meter that is placed before the actual power distribution to provide the downstream devices with an appropriate measurement function. It enables power distribution and measurement of energy, current and voltage of two or four separate phases (8340 or 8341). Two energy meters per phase are integrated. Two or four load outputs with IEC C19 connection (16 A) are located on the front of the device. The hotswap slot allows a smooth exchange of the processor/power supply module. This ensures an uninterrupted power supply to the connected loads. The Expert PDU Energy 8340 / 8341 series has SNMPv3, SSL and IPv6 capability and supports Telnet, Radius and Modbus TCP. The two integrated sensor ports allow real-time monitoring of temperature and humidity in the IT installation. Thanks to web interface and compatible network monitoring software (e.g. PRTG, Nagios or PowerIQ), local and remote access is easy to realize. The devices have a sturdy sheet steel housing and are available in four variants.

At a glance
  • Hotswap plug-in module allows replacement of processor/power supply module with uninterrupted power supply to connected loads
  • Measurement of up to 4 separate phases
  • Measurement of current, voltage, phase angle, power factor, frequency, active, apparent and reactive power for each phase
  • Measurement of differential current type A per phase
    (8340-2 / 8341-2)
  • Easy to read LED display for indication of total current per phase as well as indication of phase status
  • Support of IPv6, SNMPv3, SSL,Telnet, Radius and Modbus TCP
  • Integrated e-mail functionality
